This was the second year Frontline Distribution has attended the Outdoor Retailer at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake, and my how things have changed. We now have a firm foot hold in the Stand Up Paddle or SUP market, and are garnering more and more interest from the Kayak and other outdoor equipment manufacturers. We started attending this Outdoor Sporting Equipment convention simply because we like and use a lot of the equipment this industry produces. But what started out of simply passion for the sports we enjoy in our free time, has because become a bit of a hall mark and amazing growth market for our company.
If you want to truly understand the benefits our Company can provide with its 15 and growing distribution centers bring to the table, you need look no further than our impressive and growing list of Stand Up Paddle Boards clients. Let’s face it, these boards are long, heavy, and fairly fragile in caparison to a fork lift. So instead of braving the long multi-cross dock freight runs cross country, we have made set up a SUP distribution network using multiple warehouses on either coast. In these select market warehouses, we can then receive, warehouse, cross pack, and fulfill orders for the industry via small parcel and freight, although the lions share goes out freight.
Making use of our bi-coastal 15 warehouse locations we can reduce the handling of the boards, reduce the transit times, reduce damages associated with long transits, and in almost all cases greatly reduce the overall cost of getting these great products to market. Another outdoor retailer equipment market that I feel we are going to greatly benefit is the Kayak market. We received a marked uptick in interest from many of the Kayak Manufacturers at the show, and I feel it is only a matter of time before they start using select opposite coast warehouse locations within our network to greatly reduce their cost of getting boats to market. We have also been approached by more than a few kayak manufacturers whom have outgrown their domestic manufacturer’s ability to fulfill and ship their orders so we are beginning to offer them flex seasonal fulfillment closer to their end customers with our very scalable and robust infrastructure.
Over all this is one of the most exciting trade shows of the year we attend and we see no end in sight to the benefits we can bring to the heavier equipment (SUP, Kayak, and outdoor furniture industries) and nutrition/ supplement vendors that focus on the outdoor industry. We are proud to be growing in this industry and excited about the products that come out of it.

This was the first year that Frontline Distribution has attended the SIA ski and snowboard expo in DenverColorado. Our initially impression is that this was one of the most dynamic, busy, outdoor industry trade shows that we have been to in the last couple of years. You could almost feel the excitement in air and the exhibitors and attendees passion for their outdoor industry.
All we can say is we feel the same, and have been skiing and riding almost since we were hatched 30 some odd years ago and this is definitely an industry we would like to bring some distribution efficiency to. Probably what most interesting thing we saw at the show is the resurgence of small enterprising companies starting to make kick ass skis and snowboards in the US again. It seems from what we saw, that the most exciting hubs for domestic ski design and production are coming out of Colorado and Lake Tahoe CA/NV. We couldn’t be happier to see dynamic, young, passion driven companies starting to make innovative ski and snowboard related products in the US market again.
